When planning your time on Maui, it's always helpful to have a little insider knowledge. One of my favorite days includes a visit to my hometown of Makawao (to pick up cream puffs at Komoda's Bakery), having lunch in the little beach town of Paia, and stopping to watch the waves at Ho'okipa. There's so much to do on Maui, so I asked my friends at Maui Concierge Service to put together a list of their favorites:
Zipline Adventures at Kapalua:
You can relax by the pool... or you can FLY away, above the rainforest on a state-of-the art zipline course. At the Kapalua Resort, they mean it when they say the sky's the limit! There are many Zip tours to choose from. The Concierge Recommends their favorite: the Upper Loop and Giant Swing...call for more information and ask about the resort discount!
Helicopter Tours:
This is the most breathtaking activity on Maui. Fly in a state-of-the-art helicopter with air-conditioning, stereo headphones, and dvd equipment that films your own personal flight. This amazing voyage will change your perspective on adventure and scenic beauty--80% of Maui is only accessible by air, so this is truly an a trip to remember.
Ocean Activities:
From Kapalua Bay to the coast of Lanai to Molokini Crater, Maui waters are teaming with marine life: Turtles, dolphins, Whales (Dec. to April) and more. They have half day and full day snorkel tours on your choice of glass bottom boats, sailboats and ocean rafts. There are even submarine cruises if you want to view the fish without getting wet. If your days are filled, enjoy a sunset sail or dinner cruise and take in one of Maui's spectacular sunsets.
Guided Land Tours of Hana or Haleakala:
Enjoy a full day, guided van tour to the rainforest of Hana, or to the top of Haleakala for sunrise (this is something I always insist my guests do, even though I am not exactly a morning person)! See the most beautiful areas of our Valley Isle, sit back, relax and leave the navigating to your driver. View waterfalls, shorelines, flowers, black sand beaches, and a day to remember.
Hawaiian Lu’au:
Experience a Traditional Feast, which year after year, is the number one activity on Maui. Dinner and drinks while watching the history of Hawaii and Polynesia through the dance and music, and many shows feature a Fire Dance as the grand finale.
Maui Theatre: Ulalena
Ulalena is an interactive, Broadway style production featuring live, original music, Hawaiian mythology and dance with acrobatics. A powerful show, unlike any other, unique to Maui.
Haleakala Volcano Bike Tour:
Take a guided van tour to the summit of Haleakala, 10,023 feet above sea level. Witness the panoramic view of the crater. Start your guided biking safari at the 6,500 foot level for a 28 mile coast downhill. Sunrise and day tours available.
These are just a sample of the fantastic tours available to you on Maui. Maui Concierge Service can assist with surfing, horseback, deep sea fishing, one day tours to other islands, parasailing and more! They have special discount prices for their guests on many of the tours.
You can also have Maui Concierge Service plan a one day neighbor island tour, book your golf tee times and your restaurant reservations.
