LPGA Returns to Kapalua

Professional golf is coming back to Maui in 2027

The Plantation Course at Kapalua will host the LPGA Tour's 2027 LOTTE Championship from March 18–21, 2027. A full field of 120 LPGA professionals will play four rounds on one of Hawaiʻi's most challenging courses. It's the first time this championship has come to Kapalua, and the first professional tournament on the Plantation Course in more than two years.

The Plantation Course is a Top 100 course known for its sweeping ocean views and demanding layout.  Spectators can enjoy seeing players up close, with the occasional whale breaching in the background.  The course was home to the PGA Tour's Tournament of Champions from 1999-2025.

The last LPGA event at Kapalua was in 2008, when the Kapalua LPGA Classic was played on the Bay Course.  The PGA events are meaningful to Maui's economy, supporting local hospitality, dining and retail, as well as local charities.

The owner of the Plantation Course, Mr. Tadashi Yanai, has long supported Maui charitable causes. In 2025, after the PGA Tour canceled The Sentry, Mr. Yanai donated $750,000 to Maui nonprofits, including:

  •       Scouting America – Aloha Council
  •       Hale Makua Health Services
  •       J. Walter Cameron Center
  •       Ka Lima O Maui
  •       Lahainaluna High School Foundation
  •       Lahaina Junior Golf

“We are thrilled to welcome the LPGA back to Kapalua and professional golf back to Maui,” said Kapalua Golf General Manager Alex Nakajima. “Fans can look forward to four days of high-level competition set against the stunning backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.”
